La Gerencia Municipal de Urbanismo está impulsando la construcción de un hotel que dé servicio al Palacio de Ferias y Congresos de Málaga, un establecimiento que se levantaría en una parcela que hay justo frente al inmueble cuya superficie supera los 33.000 metros cuadrados. La Concejalía de Ordenación del Territorio ya ha mantenido contactos con diferentes grupos inversores hoteleros cuyos representantes, incluso, han visitado el suelo. Además ya se ha pedido al Área de Turismo y al propio Palacio de Ferias que aporten los datos técnicos que debería reunir un hotel enfocado, fundamentalmente, a acoger a visitantes que participen en congresos, conferencias, jornadas, ferias y eventos de esta naturaleza. El Palacio de Ferias y Congresos de la capital continúa creando riqueza y, como ejemplo, en el primer semestre de este ejercicio generó un impacto económico estimado superior a los 70 millones de euros.
